1. Category A or B (burnt-out or irreparably
damaged) vehicles are only stored in the disposal yard which has
a sealed drainage system, an impermeable concreted surface and a
water treatment system. This prevents any leaked waste fluids from
entering the local drainage systems.
2. The vehicles are securely stored in this area while checks
are carried out with the police, DVLA, councils and insurance
companies.
3. The first stage is to move the vehicle onto a fixed stand
where the oil tank, fuel tank and gearbox are drilled to allow
the waste fluids to drain out.
4. Antifreeze, windscreen washer and break fluid are individually
removed.
5. Whilst the tanks are draining the wheels are removed. The
lead weights are taken off the rims and then the wheel is compressed
to separate the tyre from the hub.
6. When all the draining is completed the vehicle is removed
from the stand and the battery is disconnected, taken out and
stored in a special acid-resistant container.
7. If in place, we remove the catalytic converter with specialised
cutting equipment.
8. We also have specialised equipment to remove the refrigerants
from air conditioning systems, if present.
9. Finally the rest of the car is put into the bailer where it
is crushed and stored until removed from site.
