Groundwork Bridgend & Neath Port Talbot
held a celebratory event on Wednesday 20th December at their Tondu
offices, to recognise the latest group of Bridgend companies to achieve
the Green Dragon environmental management standard. Carwyn Jones AM,
Minister for Environment, Planning and the Countryside attended the
event to present to the businesses.
Bayliss Recovery who collect, store and dispose of abandoned and unwanted
vehicles for Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan
and Cardiff Councils are to be awarded the highest level in the standard,
level 5, for the environmental good practice that they have brought
into vehicle recovery and recycling processes.
‘Working towards the Green Dragon Standard has really helped
us to improve our environmental impact across the whole business and
in taking the business forward.’ Says Ian Lewis, Environmental
Management Officer, Bayliss Recovery.
The Green Dragon environmental management system which was developed
and established by Groundwork Wales and Arena Network is recognised
and supported by the Environment Agency, Welsh Assembly Government,
Local Authorities and the European Regional Development Fund.
‘ We are delighted with the success of the Green Dragon Environmental
Standard which is helping small businesses identify their environmental
impacts, find opportunities for cost savings and greater competitiveness’.
