The purpose of this review is to assess the environmental performance
of Bayliss Recovery and its Environmental Management System. The
review process will identify any actions required to ensure the
system meets the requirements of Green Dragon Level 5 as well
as ensuring the continuing environmental improvement of the company
and its operations.
Progress
- The Environmental Management System is progressing well with
further improvements to the site and system during the past twelve
months.
- The company has registered as Hazardous Waste Producers with
the Environment Agency. Annual renewal date is 16th July.
- A 15m weighbridge has now been installed for more effective
and accurate measurement of wastes entering and leaving site.
- An Environmental Report has been produced.
- An Internal Audit scheme and Management Review scheme have been
developed.
- The Environmental Aspects have reviewed and updated
- The Pollution Prevention Plan has been completed
- The COSHH file has been completely modernised.
- Carbon Dioxide emissions for the previous year have been calculated
and communicated. Reduction targets for CO2 form part of the Objectives
& Targets.
- The Environmental Policy, Environmental Statement and Objectives
and Targets have all been updated.
- Fire training has now been carried out.
- New members of staff are now involved with training.
- An application for the modification of Waste Management Licence,
due to increased tonnages, has been made to the Environment Agency.
Actions Required
- Work with Environment Agency and metal shredders to ensure
that the 85% (by weight) recycling target is met during 2006.
- Update and maintain system to Green Dragon Level 5.
- Ensure training scheme is implemented fully and devise new training
subjects.
- Keep a record of suppliers & contractors Hazardous Waste
Premises Codes in legislation section to ensure correct legal
compliance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations (2005).
- Install two additional depollution bays to satisfy future demand.
- Ensure modification of site Waste management Licence is completed
in a satisfactory timescale.
- Ensure that the proposed new site in Swansea is developed in
line with the regulations. Work in conjunction with the Environment
Agency. Ensure installation of new oil interceptor at the site.
